Tej Sandilya, a third-year student at Gautam Buddha University has written this first-hand review of his college.
The Gautam Buddha University, which is located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was established through the Uttar Pradesh Gautam Buddha University Act of 2002. It was officially inaugurated in 2008. It is recognised under U.G.C. and is credited with a B+ grade in NAAC. It offers various academic programs ranging from bachelor’s to master’s and doctoral degrees in law, engineering, biotechnology, business studies, and Buddha studies. The college, spread over 511 acres, aims to foster creativity, job skills, and competence in its students. The GBU’s School of Law Justice and Governance was established in 2011, and a five-year integrated program of B.A.L.L.B. was introduced in 2012. It expanded its offerings in 2017 with L.L.M. and PHD and in 2023 by providing a two-year weekend L.L.M. program. The university is dedicated to fostering strong research culture, innovation and partnership. The curriculum is constructed to incorporate social responsibilities within the students.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The campus includes a luscious green atmosphere and is a good amalgamation of natural beauty and advanced infrastructure. We often get the site of peacocks in the early mornings. With the blend of modern technology, beautiful nature and top-notch amenities, I would rate the infrastructure scoring 5/5 for its aesthetic appeal and functionality. One of the primary focuses is the meditation centre, which provides a space for a peaceful reflection of self and mindfulness.
Sarovar and Statues
The heart of the college lies in the Sarovar pond, which includes the statues of B.R. Ambedkar, ex-chief minister of UP Mayawati and Gautam Buddha. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also displays the visionary ideas of the prominent leaders.
Grand Auditoriums
The campus includes a sum of 4 humongous auditoriums, which serve multiple uses; the auditoriums have been previously used to host international events like Unesco India, the Africa hackathon, and several cultural events. It provides a stage for the global amalgamation of various fields.
Dr BR Ambedkar Library
The Dr BR Ambedkar Pustakalaya is a reserve of knowledge and offers a holistic collection of books spanning various disciplines and genres.
Indoor Stadium
One of the striking features of the campus is the focus towards sports. Open grounds, cricket stadiums, lawn tennis courts and indoor badminton courts are properly available. The indoor stadium, which houses a basketball court and eight badminton courts, is further constructed. This indoor stadium has acted as a venue for national and international sports events such as pro-kabaddi, khelo India, the national boxing women’s championship and the Asian weightlifting championship.
