VES

This First-hand Review is written by Anshika Jaswal, a Student of VES College of Law, Mumbai

INTRODUCTION

Vivekanand Education Society was founded in the year 1962 under the leadership of Late Shri Hashuji Advani. It is a matter of pride that the society since then has grown larger and opened several other institutions under it offering various courses from Play Group to Ph.D. Many professional courses are also offered such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Polytechnic, Architecture, and Management one of which is the law. The society has many buildings namely at Sindhi Society and  Collector’s Colony Chembur.

The vision of the college is to ensure excellence in law students through continuous professional development programs, and also to serve society by developing, promoting, and providing legal  Aid services. It aims to focus on the development of skills within students and to create skilled lawyers to serve the nation.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Infrastructure of the college is quite well as the law college building was established in the year 2023 itself which makes it very new if of 7 floors and two wings with well-functioned lifts available for students and staff, the building has very spacious washrooms and a restroom for students. The library of the college which I may say is the best place is well maintained. The library has over 2500 books on law available for students. The college also has a Moot Court Room for organizing Inter and Intra Moot Court Competitions. The institution provides students with a  playground for extracurricular activities like sports.

FACULTY

The College provides us with efficient and skilled professors who are always eager to help the students. Professors at VES College of law are friendly and just like family to students. They use various teaching methods from assignments to presentations, my favorite Professor is Mrs.Deepali Babar Maam who teaches us Family Law, the way she teaches with so much passion is commendable. VES has an extremely knowledgeable set of Professors.

FEE STRUCTURE

The Annual Fees for BLS.L.L.B is approximately Rs. 1.5 lakhs when divided into 5 years, the fees for each year are around Rs.30000. The Annual Fees for 3 years L.L.B is approximately RS 1.10 lakhs which divided into 3 years is about 36,000/year. The college provides various modes for the payment of fees like UPI, NEFT, Cheques, etc.

CURRICULUM

The college offers two undergraduate courses, a 3-year L.L.B. and a 5-year L.L.B., and one postgraduate course, L.L.M. with various certificate courses in IPR, Human Rights, and a diploma course in Cyber Law. There is a Legal Aid Centre established in collaboration with the Govt. of  MAHARASHTRA. The Aim of this Legal Aid Centre is to render services to the needy and poor classes of society.

The college has a well-maintained playground for Outdoor games like Football, Cricket, Basket  Ball, Volleyball, etc . and has maintained 200 MtsTrack for sports like Relay, High jump, and Long jump.

CANTEEN

The canteen is spacious enough to cater to the needs of the students. The canteen does offer a variety of food at an affordable price.

LIBRARY

VES Law College library provides students with existing facilities to maximize their knowledge in the field of law. It is probably the most frequently visited section of the college and most certainly Heaven for dedicated Law students. Our college library is fully Air conditioned and also has a separate computer lab. Students can avail of library facilities from 8:00  am to 6:00 pm. The library subscribes to several journals and resources such as Manupatra and  SSC. Moreover, these are a must for students preparing for various competitions.

RAILWAY/ STATE TRANSPORT CONCESSION

Students below the age of 25 years of age are eligible for Railway and State transport Concession as per the guidelines and rules issued by the respective authority.

PLACEMENTS

The placement cell of VES College of Law was formed in the year 2015-2016. It undertakes the responsibility of providing internships and jobs to the meritorious students of the college. The placement cell aims at inviting the best of the recruiters to the college. It is always active and has provided a lot of students with jobs and internships.

Student life

Student life at VES College of Law is amazing as one will get to experience one of the most awaited events of our college LAKSHYA, which is like the heart of all cultural events. it goes on for days, each day having something exciting and new about it. There are various competitions held at our college at this event like Dance, Singing, Bollywood Moot Court, and the most interesting Mr. and Ms. VESCOL. Then the next most exciting event is  SPORTS DAY, where we organize competitions like Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, etc.

Senior Junior Culture

The relationship between seniors and juniors at our college is very friendly. Whenever freshers enter our college, seniors are very friendly. Seniors guide them through their difficulties. Many times there are teams made for competitions comprising seniors and juniors together.

Conclusion

In my opinion, if one wants the blend of strictness and fun at the same time I will recommend  VES College of Law. Attendance is compulsory but after everything, I said why wouldn’t someone wants to attend .
